Museums Showoff seeks museum performers

Interesting event for museum and heritage workers and visitors

Museums Showoff - An open mic night for everyone who works in or loves museums June 27th, Camden Head, Camden, London

"After a first gig packed with the cream of London's museum talent, both on stage and in the audience, Museums Showoff is back for a second go. Museums Showoff is an open mic night featuring curators, conservators, librarians, collectors, Museum Studies students, archaeologists, social historians, educators, multimedia developers, explainers, visitors, theorists and everyone else associated with museums and library special collections. It brings together people from different areas of the museum world, and gets them to show off their skills, knowledge and passions. Performers get 9 minutes on stage to do ANYTHING about museums, and you can sign up to grab yourself a slot here:

At the first gig we were shown research on the tattoos in Henry Wellcome's collection, found out about Museums at Night, saw a new handling collection, heard songs about dinosaurs and research, learned what happens to teenagers when you train them to be architects in the V&A and discovered the secret to winning technology work from the Science Museum. We also learned how remembering the sounds from Street Fighter 2 could help support a german museum. And now it's time for more of the same...
